Working with engaged couples has been at the cornerstone of my life for more than 20 years now. For me, it is both a passion and a vocation. I love working with couples and helping them through a very stressful and transitional chapter in their new life together.
As of today, I have planned 265 weddings, the majority of which have taken place in Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio. My event planning career began in the mid-1990s, when I was selected to be on Xavier University’s student programming board. There I learned the fundamentals of event planning. Planning homecoming events, concerts, family weekend, coordinating large groups on buses to Downtown Cincinnati — you name it — gave me the first glimpse into all aspects of event planning. After that, I transitioned to corporate America, planning corporate events and serving in marketing communications and public relations roles for two different Fortune 500 companies and as a contractor for a dozen different large companies around the Tri-State. These positions gave me the professional experience and media contacts that would be pivotal when I started Your Dream Day in 2004.
When I was planning my own wedding in 2004, a handful of my own vendors asked me if I had ever considered becoming a wedding planner. (My next question -- 'What is a wedding planner?') My husband said I should give it a try for a year and see what happens. Each year for the next three years, the business doubled in size and earned coveted industry awards like 'Knot Best of Weddings.'
Fast forward a few years …. Your Dream Day is now a member of The Knot Best of Weddings Hall of Fame, a multiple time winner of the Couples Choice and Bride's Choice awards from Wedding Wire, winner of Best Wedding by ILEA Ohio WOW Awards, nominee for Esprit Awards for Best Wedding. In 2016, I was named one of Dayton’s Women to Watch (now called Women of Impact), which was so humbling and something I never expected. Through the years, Your Dream Day’s work and expertise has been published in Cincinnati Weddings, The Knot Ohio, Venue Magazine, Women’s Day website, Cincinnati Enquirer and Dayton Daily News, just to name a few. Wedding vendors in Cincinnati, Dayton, Indianapolis, Columbus and other cities have blogged about our weddings together as well. My personal favorite business experience has been going to local television news stations like WCPO-9 Cincinnati, Fox 19 Cincinnati, Local 12 Cincinnati, WLWT-5 Cincinnati, Living Dayton / WDTN-2, and Dayton 24/7 (ABC 22 / Fox 45) and doing live social media videos.
This passion for doing social media videos, where I was touring venues, asking engaged couples a nightly poll at a wedding show, or doing a social media takeover during a wedding, lead to Your Dream Day offering day-of wedding content creation for engaged couples beginning in 2025. I did a few weddings in the fall of 2024 and the response from the clients was overwhelmingly positive. I am super excited about this new chapter for Your Dream Day.
My favorite part of the wedding planning process is working with brides and grooms to discover their vision, bringing that dream to life, and getting a big hug of joy at the end of the wedding night. If I get a big hug, I know I have done my job. For me, this truly is a journey of bringing joy into people’s lives. A lot of our couples stay in touch with us after the wedding, watching their families grow, and knowing you had a small contribution in making that happen, it makes life all worth while! Life is about joy and happiness, and if I can add a little bit of that to the world, life is beautiful.
